Trade & DIY Events Guide: Making the Most of Your Day
Trade shows are a great way to see and test the latest products and services in your industry, speak to experts and meet up with like-minded individuals. It can, however, feel like hard work trying to fit so much into such little time.
We will be attending Screwfix Live, one of the largest trade and DIY shows in the UK, on 27-29 September, so we thought it’d be a good time to share some tips to help you make the most of this and other trade shows.
Do your research and grab some bargains!
While many trade shows need you to buy tickets in advance, Screwfix Live has free entry. Plus, if you register in advance on the Screwfix Live website, you’ll get a gift bag filled with goodies when you arrive at the event.
There will be over 150 leading brands at the event, including household names like 3M, Bosch, Yale and, of course, Aqualisa. With so many brands present, we would recommend making a checklist of those you want to visit, the products you want to see, and any questions you may have. This will help to ensure that you’re fully focused and that you make the most of your time.
If you’re interested in buying on the day, then make yourself a shopping list and keep things like your budget in mind. One of the many benefits of the show is that you’ll get at least 10% off everything at the show, including 10% off Screwfix’s full catalogue range!
Transport and travel made easy
Trade shows are typically held in venues that are in or close to major towns and cities, so transport links are usually very good. Screwfix Live is no different, held at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre which is within easy reach of Farnborough, Farnborough North and North Camp train stations.
If you are driving, pre-booking parking can help save you time and money. Fortunately, Screwfix Live offers free parking and space for up to 3,500 vehicles. If, like Screwfix Live, the event takes place over several days, then you may wish to stay overnight to help ensure that you’re seeing as much as you can.
Whatever the event and venue, there are usually plenty of hotels nearby. These often have special offers, sometimes with a combined entry ticket. Checking the venue or the trade show’s official website is the best place to find a list of nearby accommodation.
Fun and games for all ages
If you are taking family or friends that aren’t as interested in DIY as you, then don’t forget to break up the equipment viewing by checking out some of the more fun activities and interesting exhibits.
At Screwfix Live there will be some great games and competitions that both adults and children can get involved in. There will be plenty of food and drink facilities at the event as well; these areas are where a lot of socialising and business gets done!
